A day off on Christmas day (But being a bit careful all the same)
This is an honest account of a real person’s food diary on Christmas Day, many of you will chuckle as some of the entries may resonate with you
6.00 a.m.
Kids woke us up so we had
- 2 mince pies and clotted cream and a glass of sherry (Santa not eaten so rather than waste)
6.20 a.m.
- Chocolate Tree Decoration (Fallen off tree onto the floor if the dog had eaten it he would have been ill)
6.30 a.m.
- Handful of chocolate Brazils (I was passing the dish)
7.30 a.m. Breakfast
- Large slice of Pork Pie
- 2 slices of cooked ham and pickles
- 2 glasses of bucks fizz
8.30 a.m.
- Broken bits off the pork pie as I was clearing it away
9.00 a.m.
- Fry’s chocolate cream (Son gave it to me out of his selection box because he doesn’t like)
9.30 a.m.
- Half of a Terry’s Chocolate Orange (Well it is fruit)
Feel a bit sick, it must be all the excitement. I won’t eat anything new to make room for my Xmas dinner.
11.00 a.m.
- 3 Sherries and 2 glasses of wine
11.15 a.m.
- 2 handful of peanuts (Felt a bit tipsy, too much booze on an empty stomach)
1.00 p.m.
- Turkey skin and crispy streaky bacon rashers (Turkey just out of the oven and I couldn’t help myself)
Works beautifully to the 12 Days of Christmas if you want to sing along!
2.00 p.m. Xmas Dinner

- 5 large roast potatoes
- A good dollop of mashed potatoes
- 5 roast parsnips
- Lightly fried sprouts and chestnuts
- Butter glazed carrots
- Cabbage and butter
- Suede mashed with butter
- 4 pigs in blankets (sausage in bacon)
- 3 balls of stuffing (Aunt Bessie’s pork sausage meat)
- Large serving of Turkey
- Cranberry sauce
- Gravy
- Bread sauce
And for pudding

- ¼ large luxury Christmas pudding
- Served with double cream (1 tblsp)
- and brandy butter
- 3 glasses wine
- 1 liqueur
- Coffee with cream
- 3 After dinner mints
It’s my favourite meal of the year. I’ve paid for it, I’ve prepared it, I’ve cooked it, I’ll clean up afterwards, so I’m bloody well going to eat it
5.00 p.m.

- Shared a box of continental chocolates with my husband
Xmas prezzy so couldn’t not eat
5.30 p.m.

- Mixed nuts and nibbles
6.30 p.m. Tea

- Turkey sandwich & mayo
- 2 sausage rolls – only cocktail
- 2 Vol-au-vents
- Piece of quiche
- 4 sausages on sticks
- Cheese & crackers
- Pate & dips with crudités
- 2 mince pies & cream
- Last of the Christmas pudding & cream
- Small piece of strawberry cheesecake and cream
What can I say – it was all there and everybody had some and it is Christmas!
8-12 p.m. Evening

- 5 black Russians (Tia Maria, vodka and diet coke)
- 2 liqueurs
- 1 of each flavour Cadbury’s heroes
- 1 of each flavour Cadbury’s celebration
- Assorted crisps & nuts
Had to try them all to see with I liked the best –no surprise I liked them all
Bedtime

- A large slice of Christmas Cake (Well it wouldn’t be Xmas without the cake)
- Oh my god I nearly forgot 2 Satsuma’s (You couldn’t let Christmas pass without eating at least 2 Satsuma’s)
Exercise I walked the dog twice (It’s 25 yards to the park and I stood while the dog ran around for ½ hour and then walked back)
Traditional Christmas leg over – didn’t feel well so I said no.
I think the Satsuma’s were off

This is a genuine account, the moral behind the story is….it was ONE day- this person focused on healthy eating until it was weigh day and the best present was…..1/2lb weight loss!!
One bad day of eating choices will not kill your weight loss!
But it will if you let the one bad day stretch to a week/year/decade!
jackie and sonya
Totally agree. I will be having lunch out today and a drink and nibbles with a couple of neighbours tomorrow night but then straight back to normal until Christmas day. Probably won’t have a great weigh-in on Thursday mind as only one day of normal in between! I won’t be eating snacks and nibbles on Christmas day itself but will have a nice roast dinner, not over the top as I just can’t eat huge amounts, and some Christmas pudding but I will get over it by January!
