You may be losing weight brilliantly and are really pleased with your changing shape, better health and your new rejuvenated energy levels giving you a new lease of life!!
In fact you’re feeling simply fabulous!

The dread of trawling through the wardrobe for the ‘least worst’ outfit is over, but…..

You’re wanting to look amazing and show off your results so far, even though you’re not quite where you want to be and there are parts you’re not 100% happy with and need some tips on how to disguise them. Well here goes…
To dress to look slimmer, opt for vertical lines and darker colors, choose structured or fluid fabrics, and create a defined waist. Key strategies include wearing monochromatic outfits, v-neck tops, these create a flattering vertical line and draw attention upward toward your face, elongating the neck. Wrap dresses, and high-waisted bottoms. A-line or empire waist dresses, as these styles flow away from the midsection, camouflaging the tummy area without clinging. , while avoiding overly bulky textures and shapeless clothes.
Focus on your silhouette and shape…..
Create vertical lines: A long, open layer like a cardigan or duster jacket can create a long, vertical line that draws the eye up and down will make you appear leaner.Define your waist: Cinch your waist with a belt or choose wrap dresses, these cinching styles are designed to create a defined waist and a flattering hourglass shape. Opt for high-waisted bottoms to create a defined waistline. A shorter cropped style top, jacket or cardigan would work well with any high waisted garment.
Show off your best features: Highlight the more slender parts of your body like your wrists or ankles by showing them off with cropped lengths or rolled sleeves. 3/4 sleeves are great at creating the illusion of longer arms whilst disguising upper arms as are off the shoulder bardot style tops. If you’ve got lots of strappy tops and dresses don’t throw them out! Look instead at how you could wear them. For example a shrug, pashmina or even a denim jacket (which can also take years off! They are not just for the young!)
Consider structured pieces: Tailored items, button-down shirts with structured fabric, or vests help hold their shape, which can create a more slender silhouette than overly stretchy or loose fabrics. Avoid bulky fabrics: Steer clear of thick, bulky, or overly shiny fabrics that can add extra bulk. Fluid fabrics that drape well are often a more flattering choice. Make sure your foundation garments are well fitted, slips, underskirts bra’s etc. If they fit well you’ll look lighter instantly.
Choose the right colors and patterns Try monochromatic: Wearing one color head-to-toe creates a long, unbroken visual line that can be very elongating. Use patterns strategically: Opt for smaller prints rather than large ones. Vertical stripes are your friend, as they create a strong vertical line. Embrace darker colors: Darker shades like black, navy, or deep gray are well-known for their slimming effect. To liven up a dark outfit, go for sparkly necklaces, earrings or even a patterned scarf. Years ago there used to be parties in houses where a colour expert went through all the colours, shades etc that best suited you and then you bought a swatch set containing them all. Basically we all know there are colours that really suit us, you’ll often get more positive comments when you wear them. Just as there are others that do nothing for you at all, and I’m sure we’ve all got something that we think ‘why did I buy that!!’

Create contrast smartly: If you have a lighter top, pair it with darker bottoms. A darker top with lighter-colored pants can highlight the widest part of your body.

There are basically the four seasons: Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and you will fall into one of those. However, there are so many shades within the season and some are cool shades, others are warm. Obviously your hair colour does influence your colours, as does any make-up you choose to wear. So be brave and try experimenting with colours. Often we’re so used to choosing those dark ‘slimming ‘colours’ be adventurous. Colour can make such a difference when creating or disguising the parts of your body that are a work in progress!! If you’re not confident at knowing the best colours for you there are several options available. Try searching the internet for tips, or ask a friend!
If you’re not happy with your top half, wear dark, matte-colored tops with open necklines like a V-neck, and choose structured or tailored clothing that doesn’t add bulk. Complement your outfit with brighter or patterned bottoms to draw the eye downward and consider wearing a minimizer or supportive bra for added shape and lift.
Opt for open necklines: like V-necks or scoop necks, which elongate the torso, but avoid low-cut options that draw attention to cleavage. Select simple tops: without ruffles, large pockets, or other embellishments on the chest area.Look for tops with slight shaping: at the waist or a small draped fall, rather than overly loose or over-sized clothing. Consider tops with vertical details or small, discreet prints, avoid horizontal stripes as they can add width. Use strategic layering and accessories that can draw the eye downward: with brighter-colored or patterned bottoms and skirts or upwards like sunglasses or bold earrings to create a balanced look that distracts from the chest. Adding layers like an open-front cardigan or blazer to create a long, vertical line that helps break up the chest area.
Hopefully, there are a few tips that can help you on your journey and motivate you to make the most of your success, whatever stage you’re at, these tips might be useful when considering what to wear over the festive period! Remember, when you eat well, you’ll feel well and look fantastic!
