Swap Shop….

Have you ever wished it was possible have a swap shop? Not for clothes or food, but for bits of your body!

This is your chance to give away anything you don’t like about yourself, so mentally write it down and put in these brown paper bags.

So I now have a bag full of your unwanted bits. So what have you given away? And why? What is it about the part of your body that you’re giving away that you most dislike? Is it shape, colour, texture or size? How would changing that one thing make a difference to your journey?

What is not having this thing going to do for you on your weight loss journey? It might be worth getting a piece of paper and writing them all down…

But we all know there are no free rides in life…

How would you feel if I told you that you now have to take something out of the bag to replace what you put in? How many of you are now thinking maybe my bit isn’t that bad and if I work on it or I can do something with it? You may well be totally horrified at the part you draw out of the bag, it could seem worse than what you put in!!

As you can see the grass isn’t always greener on the other side – but we can make the most of what we can with the grass on our side. No-one ever promised a perfect body, shape, or even life, but we can learn how to adapt as that’s the beauty of being human with a rational brain.

If you asked your friends what body parts they thought you disliked most, would they know? Odds are they wouldn’t as unless you have fixated on them and complained about them all the time you’re with them. I’d probably guess you already disguise them! Even famous super models have bits about themselves they dislike, one in particular hates her large feet! Until I read it, I’d never noticed them!!

It’s totally natural to dislike parts of your body, some you can improve with weight loss, some with targeted activity, but sadly some are down to age and life and there’s not a lot we can do about that. Mine is definitely upper arms!! I’ve tried everything and I can honestly say I have, but no improvement! So, I could think there’s no point bothering with the rest of my body, or I can accept it and hide them as best I can, all of which I can do.

Be careful what you wish for, you may receive it.

  1. Mine has always been my belly. Ever since having my boys I’ve never like it. But since losing weight and getting to goal I have done pilates and treadmill running which has helped and I’ve started to appreciate my body more 😊
