Lost It????

All to often old habits start to creep in, and before you know it you’re not feeling quite as good as you were, your clothes aren’t showing significant signs of becoming roomier, and the scales have stopped the downward trajectory. You may have noticed your focus has slipped and unhelpful thoughts may start to invade your every waking hour. You may start to question the importance of your journey, is it worth it? Why bother?

Determination, focus and positivity will always ebb and flow, and recognising an ebbing determination is the first step towards reversing it and renewing all your initial enthusiasm, vigour and motivation. You may feel like you’re in a fog, lost your way and blindfolded, you may feel like your “mojo” has totally deserted you and you’re feeling despondent and are wondering if it will ever return!! There are steps you CAN take…

What can you do?? – Recognise it!!!

Remind yourself of WHY you began in the first place!! What has changed? What’s different??

Remind yourself that every journey contains challenges, look for the best solution for you!

Make sure you stay invested in your weekly meetings, not just to weigh – but to stay. No-one ever learned anything if they only turned up for registration at school!!

Take positive steps to rekindle your motivation, maybe revisit your summer wardrobe?? Remind yourself of exactly how you felt when you wore them!! It may be you loved wearing them and felt superb and full of confidence. It could also be the reverse, you hated every moment, dreaded the hot days as nothing looked nice, you felt uncomfortable and wished you’d tried harder! Don’t leave it too late to get refocused or it will be the same result. Several members in our meetings have said trying on their swimwear has helped to re-inspire them.

Sometimes you do need to be quite brutal with yourself and force yourself to be honest. It’s easy to see the future through rose coloured glasses, but if you don’t take control, nothing will change.

Whatever the reason you embarked on this journey for a lighter, happier you with better health, well being, confidence, it’s an evolution sometimes fast and sometimes slow, remember YOUR personal reasons, and in the words of a famous “Take That” song “Never forget where you’re coming from” and “There’s a road going down the other side of this hill”

If you don’t want these to be only things that fit this Summer, it’s time to refocus, refresh and restart!! Recall those past summer days and…

  1. this is so true, I’ve not lost anything really since before Christmas and although I am maintaining I’m not where I want to be. Need to find that willpower back from wherever it’s gone

  2. This is all so true but I must accept that life can get in the way making options limited for a while. But the life “sat nav” will take me back on the right road. It’s always there in the back of the mind

  3. Thank you Jackie, really needed to hear this as I’ve not had great results recently. Time to focus now and have the end result in my mind, and anything with take that songs in is a motivation 😀

  4. A great read as usual. Had to Google trajectory 🙈 Your so clever and inspiring I feel like it’s wonderful advice for everyone but else but me, and that my head is just too deeply covered in moss and soil that I can’t break through. I know that’s bullshit but I keep making excuses for myself. I’m in too much pain to cook or what’s the point in trying it’s too big a journey. If anyone used these excuses to me I would have a positive answer so I know I need to listen to myself too.

  5. I think you have to be kind to yourself and accept that there will be times when it’s hard to stay focused. I always seem to struggle through the winter months but me and Marie are now re-focused and motivating each other to achieve our goals x

  7. I needed to read this blog as I totally feel my mojo has deserted me! I’m off to see Take That in May and as you say in this blog and they sing “ there’s a road going down the other side of this hill” I will get there!
