An invite to a special occasion! OOOH how exciting!! Is often the initial reaction to an invitation, them thoughts may turn to what am I going to wear!! Could it be a pre-worn favourite? Mmmmm is anyone else going who may have seen it?? What about accessories? Shoes, bag, hat or fascinator??

After careful consideration, a decision is reached!!! Old favourites just won’t cut it, and actually, they are a little bit on the snug side!!! It’s just got to be……
A proper “new frock” occasion!!!!
The search and research begins, online has to be the best place to start to get some ideas of colours and styles., it’s often when you read the small print the model is 6’12” and a size 4 ( what on earth is a size 4) When we grew up it was 8, 10, 12 14 etc.!!) You often have a pretty good idea of the colours that suit you best, so good idea to look within that framework, as well as the style!
Maybe a little browse of renowned high street shops is a safer option, after all the sizes need to be accurate!! ( you KNOW what size you are, or maybe were!!) But that was a few years ago and maybe proportionally changes have occurred? Or could it be down to cost cutting by the manufacturer – shrinkage? Who exactly IS buying these bits of lace, where do they fit and actually how do you disguise the bits you’re not confident about!
Why is it that the item you quite fancy is out of stock in your size/colour, you only wanted some ideas, now you’ll have to order it online and faff about with possibly returning it, trying to match up the accessories without actually being 100% convinced it’s the right outfit for you!

Once upon a time, there were elite shops for the discerning lady complete with a valuable assistant who advised and guided you (you hoped!) towards the best choice, or was it the most expensive choice?? You expected to leave feeling a million dollars and you were able to buy all the accessories required for that extra special finishing touch! Sadly many have gone to the wall, so not really a huge amount of choice…..
But, what about…..

Online catatlogues!!!
Quite a lot of choice, colour and style, the flexibility to pay and or return, however that small print is well worth a read! If the model is 6′ 10″, and you’re 4 ft nothing????
There’s a size guide too, but you don’t quite fit in any of the sections – less on some parts and more on others, oh well you can always order more and return the others when you’ve decided, and they have some accessories too! Sorted!!
Now it’s waiting with baited breath for the message they’re on their way, delivery is imminent, but some are out of stock so your plan to order more for choice may be scuppered. Best to be an optimist, there’s bound to be something that’s amazing in your colossal haul by the law of averages.
If wishes were horses, beggars would ride.
scottish proverb
The meaning of this proverb suggests that simply wishing for something won’t make it true, only by action could that happen, and all too often the dream of being happier, healthier and lighter gets swept away in the routine of life, until……..
The moment of truth, the eagerly awaited delivery arrives. You look forward to the moment you can try them all on and decide exactly which ‘posh frock’ will be perfect for you.
Disappointed is an understatement, gutted, miserable, we’ve all known that feeling. The reality is….
We should have tried harder. It should have mattered more, we knew perseverance and patience would be needed. And oh how we wish they had. The sad truth is even if you’d have been fortunate enough to have a top designer create an exclusive outfit just for you. You won’t feel a million dollars if you’re not happy with yourself.
NOW is the time to take charge of your food choices and decisions so that when that next invitation, which means a new posh frock, drops through your letterbox you are READY!
Don’t wish it was easier, wish you were better. Don’t wish for less problems wish for more skills. Don’t wish for less challenges wish for more wisdom

clothes shopping is the most depressing and demoralising task when you’re not happy with yourself.
