Possibly your countdown to Christmas is well and truly under way, you may have already started your list of presents that you need to source and buy. Already know where and who may be arranging the Christmas/Boxing Day feasts!! Hopefully not getting too stressed by the thought of the mammoth task that Christmas can bring!!

What better way of making the most of those crisp days and shorter winter evenings than finding time to relax. Relaxation is a vital tool to acquire for all seasons, but especially crucial when time seems to be running away. Learning to relax may seem an unimportant aspect to your healthy journey, however, when you are stressed and running on empty often the last thing you consider is yourself. It’s one of the easiest excuses for not planning your daily food and activity. Inevitably that usually leads to unwise, high fat/sugar snacks and a “that’ll do” attitude. Which may lead into “what’s the point it’s nearly Christmas!” But that is still a few weeks away!! There is still time to lose a few lbs, and it’s definitely not the time to be gaining some!! Re visiting your hobbies can be relaxing and if you need some ideas.. Idle Hands?

Think about what makes you happy and factor in some time in your day….. FOR YOU!!

Following on from making time to relax it can be really beneficial to appreciate all the wonderful things we have that are often taken for granted Gratitude can change your Attitude It could also be time to focus on your future and possible changes you could make if you’re not totally happy!!

This is a great skill to learn and is essential for ALL year round, not just November! It’s so important to consider exactly what you DO want in life, feeling under pressure to “go along with everyone else” is fine. But not if you don’t want to do it! Consider for a moment this scenario.

You often meet a friend for a catch up and always got to the local pub, where you usually have pie/burger and chips. But money is tight and you don’t want to spend the extra calories either – but you ALWAYS go there and your friend expects it. Or DO they? Might they be thinking exactly the same as you? Why not offer to meet for a drink? If you don’t want alcohol a diet drink would be fine, you could be driving, or taking medication!! Practice saying NO THANK YOU !!!!
