Mirror mirror on the wall, who is the fairest of them all????
Have you found that you don’t actually look at yourself in the mirror, just look at the part you may be doing like brushing your hair? Many of us avoid mirrors but they only show the exterior, not the real you that others see.
Did you ever at the fair go into the hall of mirrors, and find the one that made you look really slim??
That’s exactly what this mirror below made me think of..
It’s photo time, group shot…everyone line up and get in the shot.
Where are you? Behind a tree? At the back? A child on your knee? Behind the tallest person? Or even taking the photo, behind the lens and out of view. I know we have all done either some or all of these.
Our reasons are most likely that we don’t like how we look and feel, are a bit ashamed, and don’t want others to see us! They say the camera never lies, it adds at least 10 lbs and that just adds to the plenty of other reasons why we should avoid having our photograph taken, if indeed we needed any.
One day, when we are older and our family is all around us and we’re looking at old photographs and sharing memories and your grandchildren ask…. why aren’t you here in any of them? What will your reply be? If in fact we’re lucky enough to still be around.
Will you remember what colour and style your hair was? What clothes you wore?
Sadly you probably won’t, and neither can anyone else. Not wanting to state the obvious but… That is how everyone see’s you anyway, I remember the first time I heard myself on a video and was horrified at how deep my voice was. I sounded like a man! Then I realised it was how I did sound to everyone only I had never heard it aloud, only in my head.
Take a look at the image below and think about what you see there.
Odds are all you saw was a black circle.
What we have basically is a white image with a black spot, but all we take note of is the black spot, we always focus on the dark spots. Isn’t that so true of our lives?
Our life is a gift given to us with love and care, and we always have reasons to celebrate – nature renewing itself every day, our friends around us, our families, the miracles we see every day…
However, we insist on focusing on the dark spots – the health issues, the lack of money, the complicated relationship, and the disappointment with a friend. OR That weight gain!
The dark spots are very small when compared to everything else we have in our lives, but we seem to easily let them overtake all our thoughts and pollute our minds.
It’s time to take your eyes away from the black dots in your life. Enjoy each one of your blessings, each moment life gives you. Be happy and live a life filled with love!
Right, now you’ve got that in your heads, let’s talk about how beautiful you all are!
Did you know improvement in body image has been linked to more successful long-term weight management? When we like ourselves we are more likely to do nice things for ourselves rather than punishing ourselves with food. So by improving your body image you could lose more weight, just by thinking differently.
So who is bikini body ready?
The true answer is ALL OF YOU! You have a body, you get a bikini you put it on and hey presto you’re bikini body ready!
No one has the perfect body, no they don’t. I like being me, each and every one of us is unique and we are all beautiful and its time we all started to remember that!
Have you noticed;-
- When you eat better you feel better about yourself.
- When you move a little more you feel better about your image.
- When you make the effort to take care of your own health and happiness you feel more positive about your body?
We all have our own definition of attractive and we all find different things attractive in other people. So stop comparing yourself, look inside and find your own strengths to be confident about. If you struggle ask a good friend or a loved one, they’ll tell you what’s attractive about you. Others often see things we overlook.
It’s time for all of us to focus on the white area instead of the black spots so take some time to think about what do you love about you, what are the positives on your weight loss journey so far, all these things will help you keep your enthusiasm for the journey going.
It’s unlikely you’ll wake up tomorrow with 100% inner confidence, but if you can build it up a little at a time, well that can only be a good thing can’t it.
And the more confidence you have the happier you become and as a consequence happy people tend to be more in control of their food choices which means better weight losses, also happier people seem to experience fewer aches and pains – so wins all round!
