Myths and Sayings…

I’m sure we have all have heard many different myths and sayings throughout our lives. Some of them are included below, and if you have any more, please add them to your comments. Nearly all of them can be applied to our healthy weight loss, lifestyle and journey, so how many can you relate to and what do they mean to you??

A little knowledge is a dangerous thing – Don’t judge a book by its cover – Familiarity breeds contempt

Actions speak louder than words – If a jobs worth doing it’s worth doing well – If at first you don’t succeed then try try try again – Don’t put off till tomorrow what you could do today – Necessity is the mother of invention

A problem shared is a problem halved – Birds of a feather flock together

All good things come to those who wait – Better late than never – A stitch in time saves nine – It’s never too late – Every little helps – More haste less speed – Time and tide wait for no man – No time like the present – Nothing ventured nothing gained

Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face – Don’t put all your eggs in one basket – Enough is as good as a feast – ½ a loaf is better than no bread – When the going gets tough the tough get going

Every cloud has a silver lining – The darkest hour is just before the dawn – One swallow does not a summer make – Nothing succeeds like success – If life deals you lemons then make lemonade!!!

Failure to plan is planning to fail – The pen is mightier than the sword – The best defence is a good offence – The road to hell is paved with good intentions – No point closing the stable door after the horse has bolted or my version it’s no good closing the fridge door after you’ve bolted the cheese – Out of sight out of mind  – What the eye doesn’t see the heart doesn’t grieve – Many a slip between cup and lip

You are what you eat – Can’t have your cake and eat it – Practise makes perfect – In for a penny in for a pound – One man’s meat is another man’s poison – Moderation in all things.

I’m sure there are so many more, and to be honest you can make them all fit depending on your frame of mind at the time! The overwhelming message is definitely, don’t leave it to mend itself – take action sooner rather than later, as taking no action always makes it worse!

Myths are public dreams, Dreams are private myths.

  1. I can’t think of any you have missed but it reminds you that there are plenty we can apply to our weight loss journey!! So I’d better plan a healthy breakfast right now! I’m off this week which is always good – much more time for planning, eating healthily and long dog walks! Yay
