Waiting for a miracle……

Are you a people watcher? I know I am, i also listen and watch the actions of other people too, and there’s something I’ve really noticed since we got through the Covid years. More and more people are more than happy to have the things that they feel might possibly enhance their looks and appearance, provided someone else is doing it they are more than happy to pay the price. A trip to the hairdressers, the nail bar, obviously the very top of the range ‘on trend’ skin care regime, possibly a little Botox and maybe even a little filler to give a fuller, more seductive lip shape. If necessary considering implants??

A weight problem… mmm let’s see, there’s the magic tablets that the doctor can give you, they can stop your body absorbing fat, no need for you to do anything at all, no need to change any of the foods I eat and the magic just happens!! Result!! However, that’s sadly not the result you either wanted or got, but hey let’s not be a quitter, there’s always the chance it could be a medical issue, maybe it’s a thyroid problem, am sure there’s a pill for that!! Nope, no thyroid issues, starting to get a bit desperate now, maybe the doctor can sign me up for this new injection?? I’ve tried every diet under the sun and they don’t seem to work either maybe that’s the miracle I’m looking for…….

It suddenly occurred to me that everyone seems to be looking for the quickest fix, and are prepared to pay untold amounts of money to achieve it, whilst not being prepared to accept any responsibility to help themselves.

Sadly for many things there is no quick fix, there’s only remaining focused, determined and persistent, and all too often because the results aren’t instant and you have to put energy and effort in, sadly you’re too impatient to wait to reap the rewards. That is true of doing exercise and diet. To see the results from 1/2 hour walking 5 days a week WILL take up to a year. Most people will have given up as it’s too hot, too cold, too wet, too busy!! Changing your lifestyle, behaviours, food and habits will also take time, but if you see the results quickly you may stop trying, if you don’t see the results instantly – it can’t be working for me!!

Embarking on anything worth having does require regular support, inspiration and motivation, but most importantly it needs for us to accept responsibility for ourselves – if you’re doing nothing and waiting for a miracle, you may be too late!!!

  1. This has hit home in many ways for me. Right from when I first started I tried many different diets etc to loose weight when through covid and after it just wouldn’t come off Jackie and her team were there to help. I didn’t need pills or injections to get were I am today. I needed the help of my meetings with friends and Jackie, motivation and focus which have all helped immensely 😊

  2. This resounds with me as well, over so many years of different diets. Everything these days is a” quick fix”. Success lies in mind has shown me that , conscious eating , is a way of life. Being aware of what we are putting in our bodies, for a ” quick fix” , simply doesn’t work. We need to really think about what we are doing to ourselves . And the consequences. Thank you Jackie for opening my eyes Xx
