Whatever makes you happy…..

It is said that “laughter is the best medicine” and I’m sure we all agree it most certainly is. However, laughing is usually a response to something that made you smile, not necessarily what makes you happy.

If you were asked to write down the three things that make you happiest, what would they be?

We have done this in our meetings and not one person wrote FOOD!!! Certainly makes you think!! If it’s not in our top three why do we allow it to have so much influence and effect in our lives.

Happier people DO tend to make better food choices, which should reflect that many people with a weight problem aren’t generally happy and tend to use food as a pick me up, or comfort. Have you got one?

Maybe it’s worth taking a step back and looking at what makes you unhappy! If it’s something that can be improved, altered or changed in some way. Often the way we think about those things can be worked on. Say for example you’re feeling in a rut, make a plan to mix things up, and stick to it! It could have a positive effect on your general well being, and in turn the food choices you make.Do you know where you’re going to??

Several well known celebrities have always embraced their larger shape and size, and then suddenly they lose wight and say they’ve never been happier!! If eating unhealthily and being overweight is making you unhappy, it’s time to stop looking at why you can’t change – to why you MUST! You only get one shot at this life, don’t waste it!

Sometimes we ALL need to stop and take stock of where we were, where we are now, and where we want to be. Knowing those things will make it easier to make a plan and strategy to achieve it, after all life is too short to be unhappy with youself when it CAN be altered.
