Birds of a feather….

Isn’t it fascinating how Geese fly in formation? Have you ever wondered why??

I’ve got some fascinating facts about Geese so here we go…..

Fact 1: As each goose flaps its wings it creates ”uplift” for the birds that follow. By flying in a “V” formation, the whole flock adds 71% greater flying range than if each bird flew alone.

Those who stay to our meetings at lose way more weight than those going alone!!
People who share a common direction and sense of community can get where they are going quicker and easier because they are travelling on the thrust of one another.

Fact 2: When a goose falls out of formation, it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back into formation to take advantage of the lifting power of the bird in front of it.

When staying to your meeting we may hear about others struggling and that gives us hope that we are not on our own and that we can turn our weight loss around and get re-motivated, if you are lacking in motivation and struggling remember your reason for starting your journey and stay with your flock!!

If you’ve still got the wantivation to succeed then there is only one place to be each week and that’s in your meeting and here on our website! And its doubly important to be here when you’ve feel like the goose who is flying on its own. If we have as much common sense as a goose, we stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.

Fact 3: When the lead goose tires, it rotates back into the formation and another goose flies to the point position.

Nobody is always on top form your motivation dips and peaks constantly. Your meeting can give you the support when your motivation is perhaps not so strong.

Fact 4: Geese flying in formation honk to encourage those up front to keep up their speed.

Doesn’t it make a huge difference to your motivation when you hear about everyone’s success? It can also give you that extra uplift when you feel the going is a bit difficult

Fact 5: When a goose gets sick, wounded, or shot down, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to help protect it. They stay with it until its able to fly again.

We meet here at our weekly meetings, not just to celebrate the successes but also to help pick up and remotivate those who are struggling for whatever reason. Together we ARE stronger! And that means standing by each other in difficult times as well as when we are doing well.

Find a group of people who challenge and inspire you: spend a lot of time with them, and it will change your life

  1. I really enjoyed reading this. It give you time to reflect on how far you have come through the good and the bad. And remembering that you can do this and you are most definitely not on your own. I make sure I stay to my meetings were I can and listen to everyone’s help and advice to take on board. If I’m struggling at anytime I can say I’ll try that to see if it helps 😊

  2. I really enjoy the meetings and hearing of everyone’s successes and hints and tips. I do sometimes stay away when it all feels too hard but I am always glad when I come back and realise staying away isn’t the right answer.

  3. Very interesting. I knew some of the reasons but the two geese flying down to help one in trouble is very touching. It all has great relevance for our meetings too as coming to the meetings is such a big motivational factor.

  4. Definitely resonates with me. I can be totally down on myself if I’ve had a hard week but coming and staying makes me realise we all have struggles, but pulling together and working together makes us stronger. We are a team, with our mentor at the helm. Leading and guiding us and helping us to see what we sometimes can’t see ourselves that there is always a way round a problem. Getting weighed is only half of the service offered, to me the most important part is the group support and the information we gain from talk in the meetings leaves us inspired and raring to go tackle another week ☺️
