It’s not Fair…..

One of the phrases that is frequently used in life is “It’s not fair” it appears all too often especially regarding a weight problem. Everyone else can eat what they like and not gain a ounce, somehow you only have to look at food and it’s half a stone gained!! The reality is quite simply not true. In order to gain weight you do have to ingest it. What are we basing our evidence on that others can eat what they want? When we are with them? Are we with them all the time? Do we see how the rest of their day shapes up? Are they more active than you? Do they snack? Drink plenty of water? There are endless possibilities why they don’t appear to gain weight, but it’s easier to say it’s not fair.

The association with phrases like, it’s not fair and why me, are opportunities to allow you to relinquish responsibility, place the blame elsewhere, make excuses and sadly react to life’s hurdles feeling it’s not your fault. If you feel it’s because you are a victim to your circumstances, then no matter what you do it will never work.

There is a important difference between unwilling to change and unable to change. In almost every instance there are small things you ARE in control of and CAN do. Take for example Pancake Day To Toss…. Or Not To Toss?? and of course Lent Lent . Every small positive step you take will increase your self-esteem and self-confidence, which leads to to another step forward. All progress is slow, and it takes time to rebuild a future that you accept it is your choices with food that is in your control, you are strong enough to stand up for what you want. You deserve the happier, healthier and lighter future you have dreamed, so focus your energy on that goal.

Who ever said life would be fair? You can waste so much energy and effort on being a victim, or you can own it. Change it and shape it because YOU CAN!

The future depends on what we do in the present.

  1. So I remember this a few years ago when I started my weight loss journey. I kept looking at people on social media and thinking that it was me and my body that was the issue and my thin friends don’t know how hard it is to have a weight problem.

Then I realised it was me who had to make the change.

Then it opened my ears to others that made excuses. “I can’t run, I’m not a runner”, “I’m not very good at cooking and I don’t like veg”. I was then the one telling them that only they could make the change and there are plenty of ways for everyone to lose weight.

Great blog and it resonates so well with me.
