Ice Ice Baby!

It seems ironic that when it comes to drinking plenty of water in the colder months, the majority of us shudder with horror at choosing a cold drink when we’re already cold!!!

Strange though to see that the majority of us are still drinking Cold Beer, lager, chilled wine, Iced cocktails, a few cubes in the Gin and tonic, or actually any spirit!!!

We are very contrary when it comes to giving great excuses why we can’t do something, and then still doing that exact same thing!!

We say we don’t like cold food when it’s cold outside, but still have a sandwich, bag of crisps and a chocolate bar!! None of which is hot food – so who are we fooling!!!!!

In actual fact, who has ever said that you must drink cold water??? Certainly we haven’t!!

Winter water comes in lots of disguises, it can be as plain old water from the tap/bottle, it can be flavoured, still and sparkling (check for calories!) I’m sure many of us can remember drinking hot Ribena? There’s fruit teas, low calorie hot chocolate, good old Bovril or Oxo

But ALL stock and soups contain water, as do casseroles and stews Soup,Stews and Casseroles.

Making sure you do get plenty of liquid is crucial for a healthy body H2O We are getting better in the warmer months, but sadly not the cold ones, when actually, when you take a moment to think about it, we are surrounded by heat, in the car with the heater on full, and in the house with the heating revved up!! You are probably MORE dehydrated than the Summer days making it important to ensure you ARE getting enough and stop using the weather as an obstacle rather than an opportunity Obstacle or Opportunity?

  1. Totally agree. I don’t see why you can’t drink cold water or eat a salad in winter. You’ll presumably be sitting in your warm house wearing winter clothes to do it so what’s the difference? I feel the same about hot food on a hot day – why not?

  2. I drink loads, always have done, but it’s only since January 2023 that I started drinking plain water (the only New Year’s resolution I’ve ever stuck to) I try to drink at least 1.5 litres a day plus loads of other drinks. I can’t say I’ve noticed a massive difference in my skin or weight loss but as I have low functioning kidneys I assume it can only be a good thing 😄

  3. I have to say drinking water is something I’ve got into the habit of doing especially in the last few years and from learning how important it is in our meetings. So important to keep you hydrated and your skin clear and to avoid constipation. I love cold water, soda and sparkling water and I’m even getting into fruit teas ☺️

  4. I make sure I have plenty to drink through the day. Always have my water bottle filled up even if I have a hot drink it’s always topped with water 😊
