When you embark on anything in life that matters to you or is something you’ve always wanted to do or achieve, inevitably, along the way you will encounter challenges and setbacks.
The real difference between succeeding and giving up is not will power (as so many say) it’s how important it is to you. It’s accepting that any skill we wish to acquire will take effort and patience.
When our children were learning subjects at school, it wasn’t easy but it was something they had to do! No different to when we were at school, learning a new job, learning to drive or learning a new hobby. Odds are we all had someone who showed us the way to do it – teachers, supervisor/manager at work, driving instructors, hobby – teacher/guide/or even YouTube videos.
Healthy eating is no different, that’s why we’re on here and in meetings. Will it be easy? Actually it is if it’s what you really want to do, but there will always be old habits waiting to creep back in. It’s being prepared to compromise the choices that have led us to this point and as the title says….. If it is to be, it’s up to me!!!

You make the choices; some will be better than others, some won’t, but the beauty is you can always try a different strategy, choose better and compromise on your other meals and days, you can create the balance that gives you the results you want. It may take time, but remember you are changing behaviours and habits that have been with you for a lifetime, you will need to focus – but not obsess about them. You will need to think about your choices, but only you will know what choices YOU will need to change. You will be able to eat out, enjoy celebration foods because you know that tomorrow is another day where you can take control back. Ultimately your journey is in your hands!!
It’s easy to say it’s too hard, too much effort, but the rewards when you stay strong are too many to count. You get to be the person you’ve always wanted to be. You’ll finish what you’ve started. You’ve achieved a happier and healthier you. Most important is that sense of WOW I DID IT!!
And you did it without starving, going without and feeling deprived. For years you may have felt you couldn’t but no doubt anything we’ve achieved so far in life we felt the same about to begin with- who says you can’t teach an old dog new tricks! Anything is possible if the reward is great enough!
I swallowed hard. It was my life. And it was my choice how I decided to live it.

Yes, it’s up to me and no-one else. That’s the way forward.

Definitely is up to me but sometimes the journey, because it’s a long one gets on top of me and I wallow for a few weeks or months making my journey harder in the long run. You can definitely re align your life with the right help and support. It’s learning that it’s ok to have a blip or 3 but you can get back on the horse because it’s what you want and you will get there one day soon. 👏👏

So true – I give myself this pep talk regularly but I’m learning that one moment of madness doesn’t have to ruin a day/week or month which is really helping.

With darker nights on the way you have to rethink your meals. I’ve switched today had my main meal at lunchtime,so I can do a walk. Gave myself a talking to. Don’t want to pick up bad habits when it’s dark early.
