I’m going to confess to all of my secret lovers!!

This got me thinking of matters of the heart…

I feel this terrible guilt and I feel tonight is the night to confess to my secret lovers.  But please don’t tell my husband!

My first secret love was tall, dark and handsome.

I loved him because he was just so sweet.

And he made me feel just so gooood!!  He used to make me melt.

He was always there for me when I felt down, to comfort me.

We would meet in secret quite often.

But then one day my friend told me he had also been comforting her, the two timing rat!

He broke my heart.

Eating too many sweet foods will lead us to gain weight, as well as damaging your teeth.  Being overweight increases your risk of developing heart disease and having a heart attack, also impedes your mobility.

One way to lose your sweet tooth is to change to healthy foods such as fruit and vegetables.

My next secret lover was a real softy.

With him there was nothing I enjoyed better than to curl up on the sofa for a cosy night in.

I loved nights in with him and a DVD.  I thought it was really romantic.

But all we did was have nights in.  In fact I started to think he was a bit of a couch potato.  The relationship wasn’t really going anywhere, so I dumped him.

But it still broke my heart.

Takeaways are a nice occasional treat.  But they are also full of saturated fats and salt, and can clog up our arteries and contribute to high blood pressure. It’s equally easy to make your own healthy takeaways Takeaway v Fakeaway v Healthy Fakeaway!! is a great read full of ideas to re create your own at home, and loads cheaper too! Want it to look authentic?? Get some plastic/foil containers!!

Foods that contain wholegrains and are high in fibre such as brown rice can help reduce cholesterol levels and help reduce the risk of a heart attack, and you won’t really notice especially if it’s under a curry!!

Foods that are high in saturated fats are also contribute to poor heart health and are present in:

Meat, cheese, cream, butter, milk, eggs, lard, chocolate, manufactured foods like pastry, cakes & biscuits, pies. Transfats that are found in margarine and many manufactured foods, also can contribute to the leading causes of heart problems.

Being a couch potato is not good for your health and activity is key to changing your shape and losing weight and keeping it off long term.

Walking is the best, cheapest and easiest exercise for many of us, so why not give it a go!

80% of people think they are active enough but in truth only around 25% really are the only way to know is to monitor how active you really are and that’s where your activity apps and monitors can really help, and how can you do more when you have no idea how much you’re already doing!!

My next secret lover was so different

He was young, lively and fruity.  A real party animal.

He was fun to be around.  I’d love nights out with him, he was so wild!  Sometimes he would even get me to do things I wouldn’t normally do!

But the next day I would feel so bad.

All he wanted to do was party all the time.  I couldn’t keep up.  All my friends told me he was no good for me, so we split.

It broke my heart.

Too much drink leads to increased calorie intake, usually due to the munchies after indulging. Far better to drink in moderation, and know the calories in your tipple! Summer Tipples….. In case you’re unsure!! Make sure you are having a drink for the right reasons…. Alcohol isn’t a pick me up when you’re feeling down, in fact it’s a depressant!! Moderate alcohol consumption overall can be good for us and red wine contains flavonoids believed to be good for our hearts.

Drinking water is also good for your heart a hydrated heart stays healthier and a hydrated body loses weight faster.  It also has zero calories and fills you up!!

My next lover just had something about him that was addictive.

I loved him even though he was a little flash,

After a while I found out he did have a bit of an un-savoury taste about him.

When I discovered this I felt vengeful and confronted him

He was so sorry and was really crushed when I dumped him!

But none the less I was heartbroken.

Are we aware of how much salt we actually need a day?  Less than a teaspoon. Too much can have an adverse affect on your heart and also cause water retention Just a Pinch?? Or a Pinch too much??

After all those disastrous secret loves I felt like giving up.  I even contemplated joining a convent!

But then, when I least expected it I met my Mr Right.

He’s gorgeous and healthy.

He’s dependable and always there when I needed him, in fact anytime I message or called for support, I was never ignored!

He’s flexible and his effects last longer than the other guys!

He’s supportive and really cares for me. He’s happy to share me with others, and actually encourages me!

All my friends like him.  In fact I think they’re a little bit jealous.

He makes me feel good and I think I even look better when he’s around. And I know he’ll never break my heart.

Do you want to meet?

Don’t let your heart and your weight loss get broken, what can you do differently to look after yours? Put your heart and soul into following your new healthy lifestyle, love doing it and the rewards are immense.

Once I had a secret Love
That lived within the heart of me
All too soon my secret love
Was found to not be good for me

Now I shout it from the highest hill
I’ve found a lover better than Bovril
At last my hearts an open door
‘Cos my secret love’s no secret anymore.

With apologies to Doris Day

So its time to stop being a Calamity Jane and take control of our future health!

  1. Really loved this using foods as secret lovers definitely made me smile. But it’s true most of us have them, possibly lots, thanks Jackie it was brilliant 👍🤗

  2. This is so clever and rings a bell – I don’t do chocolate or takeaways but wine and crisps are my downfall!!

So nice when you are in the zone and sharing your life with Mr Right!!

  3. I think we’ve all dated these little critters. We’ve all suffered their temptations. Very few find love first time round but that’s not to say we never will.

  4. Love this. I never really went for a softy and now a days no young lively and fruity. Thankfully I found Mr Right but the other 2 come by now and again but Mr Right sorts them out. Thank you.
