Haven’t got a Cluedo??

Over Christmas many of us get out the old family favourite board games that we loved as we were growing up……

It made me think of a different version of this old favourite….Who killed your weight loss????

Let’s take a few minutes to consider your home and which areas are likely to damage your weight loss efforts, let’s go through the rooms…

  • Lounge
  • Dining room
  • Conservatory
  • Bedroom
  • Bathroom
  • Library
  • Kitchen
  • Study
  • Hall
  • Billiard room

Is in the living room and his “weapon of choice” to ruin your weight loss is the most amazing, simply divine made just for you Plum Pie!!!

What could you do that would save your weight loss for the week? There are several options, you could;

  • Simply say no thanks and look like you mean it!
  • Have a slice really enjoy it and re-balance the other meals to compensate,
  • Be more activity and pay for it.

The worst option, obviously, is to eat it all Need or Greed…

Is in the bedroom! All the festive goodies are spirited away in here, away from any greedy fingers – except yours!!!!

You could be pacing the bedroom before you jump into bed wearing your little red nightie in that oh so smaller size, for your 10 000 steps, or you could be sorting out your wardrobes throwing away those “big” clothes, trying on smaller ones all the while being more active so you feel fit and healthy whilst resisting those goodies!!!

Is in the kitchen, possibly the most dangerous room to be lurking around in, he’s put together the sandwiches for everyone for work tomorrow, and that thick fresh bread with some ham, oooh a bit of mustard would just go down a treat!!

What strategy would best help you to make sure this doesn’t destroy your efforts? You could;

  • Chew something lower calorie when preparing them
  • Have ½ slice for supper and savour it.
  • have a glass of water and remind yourself you’ve not long eaten!
  • or just remember why you don’t need/want it.

Is in the bathroom and she’s hidden a few biscuits in her dressing gown pocket knowing that she is usually safe from prying eyes in the bathroom.

So, why are the biscuits in her pocket?

  • Did she need them?
  • Who is she hiding them from?
  • Who is she hurting?

If this is something you are doing regularly, then you a building a habit and a behavior, but it isn’t a helpful one and you will have to break it at some point, so why not now!!!

You could relax and de-stress in your bath and have some quality uninterrupted time to be inspired and motivated to continue your fantastic journey

Is in the conservatory, surrounded by greenery and plants, he’s made sure there are some nibbles on the coffee table next to the comfy chair where you can have a minute specially if the sun is shining!

Ask yourself WHO are they for? If it’s your favourites aren’t you asking for trouble? You could switch them for lower calorie snack, or balance your day to factor them in. You could remove them totally and make a stand on no snacking between meals!

All of those lovely plants have flourished with TLC because you’ve looked after them and watered them regularly – are you doing the same for you!!

Is in her Study and it’s the place that’s hers’.

Which means little sweet pots are within easy reach and it’s undisturbed!

While you’re busy working it’s sooo easy for those hands to wander!! Remember mindless eating adds pounds to your seating and worse is the fact that you don’t even remember eating it!

You could have your food diary in front of you, and list in hand ready and preparing for the week ahead.

If you always do what you always did, you’ll always get what you always got!! If you’re serious about creating new behaviours it’s time to change!!!!!

There are other rooms in the Cluedo game, and there will always be challenges and obstacles to overcome. But the harsh reality is, if you have no “Cluedo” as to what is hindering your success, take a look in the mirror and the chances are you will see exactly WHO is killing your weight-loss. And if you are serious about losing weight then you will need to look at different strategies and behaviours that will support your journey.

  1. lol love this.. I think my safe places are the bathrooms and my bedroom (don’t like crumbs in the bed lol) but all other rooms are fair game!! But trying to remain focused in this last week before Christmas x

  2. Very clever! I don’t remember ever being tempted to eat anything in the bedroom, bathroom or study but there could be treats lurking in the lounge and kitchen. I’ll be keeping away from anything like that until the end of the week. Then I’ll have my Christmas dinner and enjoy it, left overs on Boxing Day and then compensate for the rest of that week.

  3. Love it very clever 🤩 love a game of Cluedo always wanted to be Miss Scarlet not because I wanted to eat snacks in the bedroom 😂😂 Professor Plum in the lounge is the one that leads me astray. Need to get some healthy alternatives to my snacks and sock Professor Plum off with the lead piping !!

  5. Wishing to be Miss Scarlet but actually Rev Green ! 😂…. Have more goodies and snacks in as it’s Xmas but made conscious decision to have poached egg and 1 slice of toast for lunch and sit down and eat even though I was home alone . Could easily have tucked into the Xmas snacks but satisfied my hunger and grazing by a sensible lunch 👍
