October tips for Success….

As we slide into October and Autumn is firmly here, what better time to share a selection of tips to keep the motivation high, to advise and support our healthy weight loss journey.

The flower for the month of October is called Cosmos, and certainly brings a splash of colour to brighten the day!

Hopefully one of the valuable tips we’ve acquired during the summer and kept as a new behaviour is drinking around 2 litres of water a day. This is a skill that definitely needs to be continued throughout ALL seasons. When you consider that actually, the majority of us have central heating and turn the heating up when travelling in the car, odds are we are more dehydrated rather than less in the colder months. Aim to make it a behavior every day!

Wrap up warm and get out there!! The cooler Autumn months lend themselves perfectly to enable brisker walking. The smells and colours of Autumn have their own unique beauty as well as thinking time when embracing this season. Walking has been proven to aid well being and better mental health, so plan it in!! Develop an Autumn sleeping routine. Many people find it easier to sleep once the heat of the summer has passed. It could also be that your sleep pattern has been disrupted and then it often becomes the norm to wake up more frequently. Developing a new routine that adjusts to the cooler nights, hopefully the thought of getting warm and cosy in bed on a cold evenings seems very inviting! In order to create the optimum ambiance for a perfect night’s sleep there are certain tips that can help. Sleep this post covers lots of areas. Remember all the boxes you had to tick to persuade a baby to develop a routine!!! We are no different. In fact one that was recently discussed was to NOT watch the 10 o’ clock news!!!

Your healthy eating journey is unique to you, obviously it’s great to share techniques, tips and advice, but actually, only you know you! Comparing your journey to a friends or colleague could mean that you end up feeling disappointed which could in term lead you down a slippery slope Snakes and Ladders and the same could be said for your friend/colleague if your rate of success is different to their’s.In fact it’s like comparing chalk and cheese!!

By learning to create new habits and adapt behaviours for every season, success will be perpetual rather than seasonal Sick of being a Yo-Yo Dieter??
