Eyes Front!!!

All to often when making the decision to embark on a new way of thinking, living and eating, rather than focusing forward it seems more energy is spent looking back at past mistakes and past failures. It would be far more useful to ask the question WHY, what was it that led me to not succeed…..

Was it:

  • Too Restrictive?
  • Unrealisic Aims?
  • Not Liveable?
  • Too Complicated?
  • Too Regimented?
  • Not Sustainable for your lifestyle?
  • Too Expensive?

When you take the time to analyse what didn’t work, you are in a much better mindset to approach a healthier way to lose weight and keep it off long-term.

At Success lies in mind, we know that being able to succeed at losing weight is not following a strict regimented diet plan (In fact, many experts are agreeing with this and endorsing our approach!!) It’s far more moderate, it’s changing the things we do that have given us a weight problem, it’s learning new tactics, strategies and responses that empower you to take control, and should the occasion arise when you’re not in control and have to make unwise choices it’s not the end of the world and learning not to right off the week, or abandon the journey is crucial to your future success! It’s a balanced approach that is seeing fabulous long term success and actually, the average weight gain over Christmas and New Year before we opened was 6 lbs. Every year since we’ve decreased the average and this year it was an amazing 1.4 lbs!!!

Whist January may seem like a bleak month with all the excitement of Christmas over and cold days ahead, we need to remember our days are getting longer by nearly 2 minutes a day so lighter nights are happening as we read this blog and we are heading towards Spring and Summer, these days, weeks and months will pass regardless of whether you dread or love them, and keeping your eyes forward is the best way to help you focus on exactly what you do want to look and feel like and putting into practice the strategies needed to make it happen. Summer bodies are made in Winter, so let’s put all of our energy into staying positive, being kinder to ourselves (if we slip), being as active as we can, making sure you are getting all the vitamins and nutrients your body needs to stay healthy during these germy months!! How SAD are you? Vitamin D is an important one that can impact your immune system especially during the winter months, so do read the link above where it’s packed with tips and information.

  2. Too true. I could have lost more weight last year, but I did not. So time to move on and look forward. I feel more focused since the Autumn and know that 2024 is the year I smash it x

  3. Loved the meeting last night and came away feeling happier and motivated. The psychology and cognitive behaviour discussion was fascinating and some great tips. Concentrating on my actions going forwards.

  4. I feel that I have more control over what I eat and have noticed that when I shop I don’t even bother about the sweet treats that I did, very much so, crave for, I’m not saying I don’t ever slip up but in the past I always gave up the week if I had a bad day or social celebrations but now I draw a line under it, move on and compensate on the following day’s.

  5. I’m looking forward to a skiing holiday next month and have decided to make my own ‘trail mix’ to take for energy snacks instead of chocolate bars.
