Be my Valentine..

Traditionally Valentine’s Day is the one day of the year when chocolates and flowers are given as a token of love. Why chocolate you may ask?? Well it’s the food of love and of course a well known aphrodisiac, so are oysters which to me just doesn’t somehow have the same appeal!

Here are eight of the most common foods said to be aphrodisiacs

  • Artichokes
  • Asparagus
  • Chocolate
  • Figs
  • Oysters
  • Spicy chilli peppers
  • Strawberries
  • Watermelon

Strange how the only one we are drawn to is chocolate!!!

Flowers are of course, beautiful and Red Roses the flower of choice for love, unless your partner knows your real favourite and goes the extra mile!

Or knows you so well that none of those will hit the spot!

Your partners are not mind readers, if you have always had the biggest box of chocolates in the past, how will they know it might not be your choice now? Tell them!!

A romantic meal for two???? And why not…

So what does a romantic meal look like?

  • Is it cooked by your partner?
  • A takeaway?
  • Or a meal in a restaurant?

All of the above can be included as part of a healthy eating regime.

When you’re looking for a healthy balance, it’s simply compromise through the day, and if you do go a bit overboard, you’ve got the remainder of the week to make fabulous healthy choices and minimise any damage. Ultimately it’s how you view it, and if you keep it in perspective, it’s only 1 day!!

Remember if it floats your boat and a romantic meal for two of oysters, asparagus and chocolate dipped strawberries is on the menu then why not indulge?

While it doesn’t hurt to have a few of these once in a while a more balanced healthy approach to eating along with becoming physically active is a winning combination and will have you feeling your best for whatever might come next!

Don’t shower me with flowers,

Don’t dance with me for hours,

Don’t take me out for dinner,

Just say I’m looking thinner
