How SMART can you be?

So how SMART are you?

S – SPECIFIC

M – MEASURABLE

A – ACHIEVABLE

R – REALISTIC

T – TIMELY

Often by not having a destination in mind it can be easy to forget where you want to go to, however to get anywhere you need to be SMART about setting your targets.

Using the S.M.A.R.T above consider what sort of targets you could set yourself

  • Breakfast
  • 3 meals a day
  • More activity
  • Keeping a food diary
  • 5 servings fruit/veg a day
  • Drinking more water
  • Portion sizes
  • Healthier snacks
  • Variety in your meals
  • Seasonal foods to get the best and cheapest nutrition

We all know what areas we need to work on to get better results and feel more positive.

We often hear it’s the snacking that gives us problems, so it may be we need to focus on mindless eating, it’s usually whilst watching TV and the changes we need to be making in order to get those new habits and behaviours which lead to future successful weight losses.

Could your snacking be planned and controlled? Are there foods you know you would cope better with than others? Would a fixed portion/calorie be helpful?

Imagine how would you feel if you achieved all this over the coming weeks! The more in control you are the better you will feel and the scales will reflect this too.

What could you reward yourself with if you hit all your SMART targets this week? Or would the weight loss be reward enough?

Along your journey we will reward you with your awards and milestones, but also consider what rewards you could buy yourself or even what things you could treat yourself to doing that would accentuate your results.

After watching the Grand National it made me think how very like our journey towards our new future it was….Loads of hurdles!! Other riders getting in the way, the fall downs and the get ups! The holding on tight to the reins of control!!

We can learn to say Neigh when we need to,

Can you keep hold tight onto the reins this week?

Make sure you don’t fall at the first hurdle, and if you do get back up!!

And you will be galloping to the winning post with another fantastic weight loss.

For one to fly, one only needs to take the reins

  1. I think it’s important to remember the realistic part of SMART in my weight loss journey.. my target for the last few weeks has been to drink at least 2 litres of water for at least 4-5 days of the week. I’m getting there with it, and it is helping for sure. SMART goals are so important xx
