What A Difference A Day Makes…..

We all know the song “What a difference a day makes” originally by Dinah Washington, 24 little hours, but all too often we’re so busy looking so far in front that we don’t make the most of the now!

How many times does a week fly by, it may have started with some great intentions, but lack of organisation, planning and focus can mean nothing was achieved!

Someone once told me that women are great at multi-tasking, but that may mean nothing is completely achieved! Have we forgotten that sense of accomplishment when we manage to get something right? Do we take a few moments to congratulate ourselves, or do we move on to something else and forget to celebrate the win? So, let’s look at some possible little win’s…

  • Deciding WHAT you want to achieve TODAY
  • Having a healthy breakfast
  • Using your food diary to help make sure you get your 5 a day
  • Planning a balanced lunch
  • Enjoying a walk
  • Drinking plenty of water
  • Checking your portions
  • Being kind to yourself
  • Preparing a satisfying evening meal with dessert
  • Not focusing on food
  • Relaxing and unwinding making sure it doesn’t involve food or drink!
  • Getting a good night’s sleep (8-10 hours) Sleep

These may seem like a lot to do in a day, and there is a good chance that not all of it will happen in the beginning. Just remember however planning is the key to saving not only time, but effort and energy and list’s can help!

Slow cookers are great at this time of year Soup,Stews and Casseroles (as well as energy saving!) Air fryers are also becoming extremely popular and as well as energy saving, also reduce the quantity of oil used, which will benefit the whole family.

Deciding what you want to achieve is half the battle, once you know what it is, you can then start to create a plan to make it happen. So maybe one bit at a time. If you start with breakfast, but also know it’ll be a rush and you’ll end up with same old thing, why not prepare it the night before? Or set your alarm a few minutes earlier.

If it matters enough – you’ll find a way!!

Organising your mind for success is simply a process, it’s then developing a plan, a strategy, a new thought process to achieve it. Repeated over time it then becomes your normal routine and a new behaviour that will support you throughout your journey.

One day can make a world of difference to how you feel, act and succeed, but if we don’t concentrate on the minutes in front of us and make them count, they’ll just blend into hours, days, weeks and months, then blink and it’s another year gone!!

  1. Being off sick with my shoulder injury has really made me assess my life decisions. I’m doing so much more with my time. Thinking about my week and planning meals. Also if I can’t sleep I’m getting up and starting my day. Before I was staying in bed and wasting the time until my usual wake up time. My philosophy was I was resting but now I’m turning that around. My mood and feeling of well being has greatly improved.

  2. Since the start of the year we have planned and prepped our meals for the week ahead, this means that we have a nutritious meal when we get home from work which only needs warming up in the microwave or the air fryer. This is something that we never did, but it has made a big difference to us as a family. The next goal is to plan our lunches

  3. So true and I’m so good at starting a new week on a Monday, but need to be more focused at the weekend, and with only 7 weeks til Easter, I want it more now than ever xx

  4. Have enjoyed starting to use the slow cooker which is brilliant for batch cooking. And got an air fryer at the weekend as an early birthday present so looking forward to trying that out and experimenting with different healthy recipes.

  5. Since the start of the year we a planned and prepped all our dinners for the week ahead knowing that when we get home from work we have a healthy nutritious meal that just goes into the microwave/airfryer. My best kitchen appliance is my instant pot🥰 I always have a good breakfast but I need to sort lunches out and cut out the snacking instead which I think let me down
