Top Skills For Success…

Wherever you look you’ll find lots of top tips for weight loss success, but let’s remember that to achieve long term success you need to work on creating a healthy, sustainable and live-able lifestyle, not just a diet!! Need or Greed…

Here at we firmly believe that adapting your individual way of life, changing behaviours and learning strategies that work for you are key to getting where you want to be and equally as important – staying there!! Interesting to learn the majority of our Diamond Members find it so much easier to stay at their weight!!

Let’s explore some invaluable top tips….

  • Healthy Eating – As you’d expect this is at the top, whilst we may not know all about healthy food, we most certainly DO know what isn’t!! So a little less of those, and plenty of the others! 5 A DAY
  • Controlling Portion Sizes And Staying Satisfied – You can eat a lot of lettuce, sadly you might be full, but will you be satisfied? Physical and Mental Satisfaction Keep in mind a dessert is the little bit at the end of your meal – NOT THE MEAL!!! This is an opportunity to rethink your meals and check your portion sizes, again remember you’ll never over eat on foods you aren’t that keen on!!
  • Moving More – When it comes down to a Healthy Lifestyle and success on the scales, Activity contributes just 20% to your result on the scales whereas the food you eat is a massive 80% and therefore the biggest deciding factor! What moves you? So if you are only getting 50% of your food balanced – you will definitely need activity to give you that extra 20%. Which makes me think of the saying “You can’t outrun your knife and fork”
  • Planning Ahead – Many members agree this is often a stumbling block on their journey, they are usually very organised for everyone else in the family, whilst not putting the same energy, enthusiasm and energy into their own needs! So take time to shop wisely (Keep in mind foods spoil far faster in the warmer weather, so be mindful) Bulk cooking can be a lifesaver, or learn how to adapt their meals to suit you! Convenience meals can also help. It seems the most dangerous time is unplanned and I don’t know what I fancy!!!
  • Thinking Positively – This is a journey, there will be challenges, life will get in the way, there will be celebrations, there will be holidays, and weekends, and meals out. But…. They won’t be every meal of every day 7 days a week forever! Do what you can with the cards you have been dealt. Balance the meals you CAN do the activity you CAN, know that this will pass and take control where you can!!
  • Monitoring Your Weight Regularly – It IS important to check your weight regularly, BUT not obsessively!! Getting on and off the scales at all times of the day and night is NOT conducive to your mindset or well-being. The scales aren’t the only measure of success, and if you are doing everything you know works, what more can you do? A weekly weigh-in at your meeting with expert advice and support no matter what the scales say is vital.
  • Getting Appropriate Support From Family and Friends – All to often when beginning a new approach its tempting to ask for help as in “If you see me eating chocolate, stop me!” Until they do, then that’s not the help required!! Be specific, ask for the right help for you, maybe don’t make a fuss about this new approach – you’re just being careful. Try “I don’t fancy that thank you” rather than I CAN’T eat that I’m dieting!! Be mindful over the phrases you use, and remember, this is not a punishment, YOU ARE choosing to be healthier, happier and lighter! Support, understanding, advice and guidance is always in abundance at your weekly meeting!
  • Staying Focused – Weight loss is part of eating healthier, being more active and staying adequately hydrated. H2O This process will become a routine that you choose to follow. The destination will arrive and then you can can learn what works for you regarding maintaining that success. Remember, if you go back to your old ways, your old problems will be waiting for you!! This IS a journey and learning these skills will reap it’s own reward as in the you, you’ve always dreamt of!!
  • Making Time For Yourself – Life can be chaotic, stressful, manic and crazy. Be mindful of your own limits and remember to take a step back, breathe deeply and count to 10. Make sure you find things that can help you to relax and unwind, things that are suitable for all seasons, not just summertime! If you don’t look after yourself- who else will!!
