After many years of working within the weight loss and well being industry, there have been so many things that have given us “food for thought” The various studies and data that should enable us to make better choices, the scientific research that explains WHY we are attracted to the high caloried, high carbohydrate, high sugar and fats. Much of which, over time has been questioned, until many of us have absolutely no idea what is the truth, and which are lies. The only real way is to look at the evidence, and as many of us are not scientist, that tends to fall by the wayside!!

Basically, if it sounds too good to be true, it’s probably fake! Let’s go back in time……..
When we first became health professionals in the weight loss industry, according to the governments NICE guidelines, the amount of fat we ate was the reason so many of us were overweight and unhealthy, followed by actually, according to NICE guidelines it’s more down to it’s a combination of fat and carbohydrates. Then moving on a few years it was more due to the fact we led a sedentary lifestyle as well as carbohydrates and fat!! Fast forward a few years and actually according to health guidelines, it’s the refined sugar, as well as all the other factors. So we all needed to change to artificial sweeteners, when several of them now are being classed as known carcinogenic. More recently it’s also Ultra processed food as well as free radicals!!! Now let’s look at the data for now…. The “magic cure” is injections, however, you will also need to make healthy choices, do more activity, check your portion sizes etc!!! In short adopt a healthier lifestyle!!!!!! What more can we say!!!
Can you remember the “grapefruit diet”? What about the egg diet?, The cabbage diet? The special K one? Any more!!!Please share in the comments any you can remember giving a go!!
They all faded into our memories as another “diet fad” that didn’t work and very quickly resumed our usual meals and snacks!!
There are NO magical quick fixes, there ARE things we could all do that will improve both our weight and our health, one of the most important things we CAN do is head over to your local
meetings.

By doubting we are led to question, by questioning we arrive at the truth.

I still find it difficult to identify some ‘processed’ foods. Bacon is processed? But its protein, so is that good? If you buy cooked meat slices they are processed? It’s hard to avoid when shopping or is it just me!

I find the more I look into diet and food combinations and what is so called good / bad foods the more confused I get🤦🏻♀️. So good we have super people like Jackie and Sonia to help us through.

Definitely being in the meetings is the most important thing. Together we can make sense of all the myths and with our mentor work out a healthy eating plan that will work for us. I’m loving the glucose goddess hacks and at the moment they’re keeping me on track. 🥳🥳

balance is the key! Don’t cut out any food group (fats/carbs etc) as they all have a function in your diet. Healthy eating is a new term to describe what our parents did naturally, cooking raw ingredients to make nourishing meals. SLIM meetings are great at keeping us on track to help navigate the maze of “truth” that is out there.

years ago, a work colleague tried the pineapple diet, eat a pineapple a day. Of course we know that pineapple softens protein – her gums softened and teeth became looser. Lesson learned
I know of one lady who has had a gastric band for many years. Her intestines have ‘died’ so she now has 3 stomas
it’s a case of changing lifestyle and know your diet
