How do you do it??

Whichever way works best for you and whether you love doing it, hate doing it, can’t be bothered, takes up too much time, the simple fact is it DOES make a difference to not only the results on the scales but also the measure of how focused you are on changing the food you eat, why you eat it and when you eat it.

It also makes you accountable to yourself (as well as your mentor if they have asked to see it!) Actually we have been told it can be very cathartic when giving an honest report of each meal.

You can pick up a free Food Diary in your weekly meeting

To support you in making healthier choices you’ll find check boxes for your minimum of 5 fruit and vegetables a day, Check boxes for your water intake as well as well 3 check boxes for 15 minutes of activity daily. All of this information can help you plainly see exactly what is brilliant, and what needs working on.

There is also included a mini shopping list to help you plan your day/week or next few weeks!

You will also have a blueprint to base the following weeks on, and if you do use the weekly food diary to write it on, you’ll have a perfect, personalised healthy eating plan totally suited to your individual needs and requirements. Put the date on them and your results from the scales and keep them in a folder, if you get one with tabs included you could group them in Spring, Summer, Autumn and Winter and when the seasons change, you’ll know exactly what worked.

Some people find it works for them to take photo’s of each meal, and as nearly all of us have a smartphone, it’s accessible to the majority.

It is very rare and quite unusual to receive a food diary from a member and not be able to spot little things that can be tweaked to give both a better result and a livable compromise.

The sad reality is, no matter what you are trying to achieve it may be better health, or weight loss, changing habits and behaviours or all of them, everyone who is trying to support you will want to see what you are doing now so that they can guide you towards making changes. If they/or you have no idea what’s not working how can anyone guide you forwards! Many of our members find when they use the food diary, it’s becomes obvious exactly what changes are necessary.

Write it down. Written goals have a way of transforming wishes into wants; can’t into cans; dreams into plans;and plans into reality. Don’t just think it – ink it!

  1. Fab post. I use an app to write my food diary. I can always look over my day or days to check calories eaten or what I have had during the day. It also has the traffic light log so you know how much of one you’ve had during the day 😊
